Questions to QUMEA about Vitalis

Cyrill Gyger is CEO at QUMEA, one of our new exhibitors at Vitalis this year.

Why did you decide to participate at Vitalis this year?
QUMEA is becoming progressively the state-of-the-art in the hospital and nursing home environments in Switzerland. We are also starting to enter foreign markets with the Nordics being in strong focus. Especially because of the many parallels between the Nordics and Swiss markets. Therefore VITALIS, as the largest eHealth event in Scandinavia, is essential for us.

Please describe your solution, product/service in a few words.
QUMEA is the most advanced and comprehensive system for fall prevention and mobility monitoring. QUMEA detects the finest motion throughout the room. Contactless, without invasion of privacy and in real time. Critical events such as bed exit intentions, falls, or sudden restlessness are detected and the nursing staff is informed immediately. In this way, QUMEA leads to more than 60% reduction in falls and more than 20% reduction in the amount of care effort. Our roadmap is brimming with even more functionalities for maximum prevention with minimum intrusiveness.

Which problems do you solve?
37 million falls occur each year with those in care institutions having the most severe consequences due to the frailty of their patients/residents. At the same time, most of these falls could be prevented, as they are usually caused by unattended bed exits. Falls cause high costs, not only due to potential injuries but also because of the legal, liability and internal case discussions. The reputation of an institution suffers from a high incidence of falls. Patients at risk for falls require a significantly higher level of care. The nursing shortage is intensifying this problem additionally.

What are your expectations, participating at Vitalis?
Our innovation is already appreciated by users and has shown a significant reduction in falls of more than 60%. We are looking forward to showcase our solution to many new innovation seeking users. As the most important fair in the Nordics Region, we expect to meet a lot of innovative healthcare institutions. We expect to have great exchanges with potential customers and partners and share knowledge on the future of healthcare technologies. That’s why we see VITALIS as a springboard into the Nordic market.

In what way is Vitalis an important meeting place for you, and why should our visitors/delegate visit your stand?
The Nordics are world leaders in innovation with special success in the field of digitalisation and eHealth solutions. Furthermore, there are healthcare and research institutions, highly skilled expertise, a thriving industry and a strong startup scene. Nordic innovations are therefore an inspiration to many other nations! Having the possibility to meet all experts at one time and one place, is the best opportunity to showcase our innovation. Also, knowing that awareness of technology-assisted fall prevention is already advanced in the Nordics, but that today’s solutions often pose privacy risks, QUMEA wants to show a smart alternative. And make sure to not miss the excellent Swiss chocolate at our stand!
